SEATTLE, April 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Frederick Memorial Hospital, based in Frederick, Maryland, has selected Tableau and FTI Catalyst for its business analytics. "In our tightly-regulated industry, getting good data is critical to improving patient care and to making sound business decisions," said Mary Cague, Director of Decision Support at Frederick Memorial Hospital. "But now that we're collecting this wealth of data, how do we see and understand it for meaningful decisions?"

Frederick Memorial Hospital selected a solution from Tableau and partner FTI Catalyst for its ability to quickly and easily blend, analyze, and visualize data from multiple systems.

"We previously relied on a manual system of data gathering, entry, and analysis, based primarily on spreadsheets. This meant that if someone wanted to ask a new question of our data, it required starting this process over – sometimes taking weeks," said Cague. "One of our goals with Tableau and FTI is to be able to answer these questions in the course of a single meeting, taking just minutes. This will help improve our efficiency, productivity, and speed of decision-making at a lower total cost of ownership."

"More and more healthcare organizations are seeing the impact that data can have in terms of performance improvements," said Asha Saxena, President and CEO of FTI Catalyst. "It's exciting to see the gains that Frederick Memorial is making thanks to visual analytics."

The Hospital plans to expand access to dashboards to up to 100 people, including physicians, surgeons, clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to empower them with the insights they need for life impacting decisions.

"Our hospital staff is constantly asking to see the data," said Cague. "We selected Tableau and FTI for the ability to present the data in a way that anyone can quickly see and understand it. This will be key to business and clinical user adoption."

"Tableau helps 'bridge the healthcare data divide' with visual analytics," said Andy De, industry strategy and marketing leader for healthcare and life sciences at Tableau. "The ability to empower physicians, nurses, and clinicians on the front line of care delivery with the actionable insights they need for life-impacting decisions is critical for enabling higher quality of care and superior patient outcomes. Frederick Memorial Hospital is at the forefront of this innovation and we are delighted to partner with them and with FTI Catalyst on this journey."
